And you stand fair and square and i stand there

here of some photos of last weekends birthday party at mindi and geoffs place. i havent been out much around town so it was nice to hang out with everyone. there was a red vodka made from mango and passion fruits that was dangerously good and mindi made banana monkeys??

an update on running. i easily worked my way up to fourteen miles finishing that in about two hours. this weekend i will increase to sixteen miles.

i havent touched my bike only to move it around the garage for about two and a half months.

climbing tomorrow with jay.

ive been demoted from partner to employee.

the butcher block is finished and in the kitchen. a couple of the legs need a small shim but it turned out as expected.

enough snow to think about getting the xc skis out. death tube in SR if we ever get organized enough to go.

Everyone else thinks it’s the bee’s knees

here are some photos from last weekend. the concert was great and well worth the trip. the 930 club is a great venue and i hope to go back before too long. i really like the photo of camera obscura with the white lights.

the painting is by asher b. durand (kindred spirits). it was supposedly purchased by sam waltons daughter at auction for $32million and on loan for two years at the national gallery.

also, the first bottle of anchor steams special christmas beer i found on the wall at brickskeller. i would love to see the whole collection.

well thats all i am posting for now. have a good weekend -its looking like winter outside here in PA. snow covered lawns and streets. if this continues the xcountry skis may be out for the first time in two years.

You can’t see that you’re just the same as all the stupid people you hate

this isnt a typical post but i came across this test and it was a fun one to take... here are my results along with a link to take it yourself.

the Cutting Edge
(61% dark, 46% spontaneous, 31% vulgar)
your humor style:
CLEAN | SPONTANEOUS | DARK

Your humor's mostly innocent and off-the-cuff, but somehow there's something slightly menacing about you. Part of your humor is making people a little uncomfortable, even if the things you say aren't themselves confrontational. You probably have a very dry delivery, or are seriously over-the-top.

Your type is the most likely to appreciate a good insult and/or broken bone and/or very very fat person dancing.

The 3 Variable Funny Test

camera obscura/essex green this weekend and i am more than excited. a friend of mine turned me on to ra ra riot which sound great. buy a tshirt and get a free 3 song ep.. listening to them reminded me of a band called organ and upon looking up their website i discovered that they split up...no news why but i did enjoy their talent. have a good weekend everyone...cold and snowy in PA -something like what a typical winter day used to be.

because fingers make the hand and rivers make the land.

so here are the butcher block photos. doesnt look like much to most but i think its fantastic. i am currently working on adding 7inches of height to the original legs. the story of the block..

this block was used by the lyden family who have operated a small meat business for many years. after using for so long they had chopped down to the steel reinforcement rod. they removed the legs, flipped the block and poorly reinstalled the legs. it was used for many more years but was no longer a favorite since the stability was so poor. -i would imagine that was when they bought their current block which is at least three times the size of this one with six legs-a beautiful block.

so, a few days ago i picked up the block and legs... took the block to omega logging to see if i could have the bottom(old top) squared up to reinstall the legs correctly. pat and rudy helped me out and did a great job.

since then i have done a lot of sanding and cleaning. i am currently working in pulaski at a woodshop for the block legs. bob and dave are allowing me to do some of the work myself to save on the final bill which is great. i may ask to apprentice there on days i am not substituting. i will have more photos as work progresses.

climbing tonight for the first time since november.

bring me the workhorse

here are some shots from an evening at the ranch. everyone had a great time and i think we all will go back again soon.

a small snow storm last night was great but didnt last long enough.

currently working on a butcher block given to me by matt and erma lyden.... i believe she said "what are you going to do with that piece of crap. i think you should burn it." i have at least a few more days of work on it and its going to be the next best thing in the kitchen. pictures soon.

oh. i guess i should also post that my house now has a tv. joe and i bought a 37in LCD monitor which is awesome. not only did we go with a sweet tv, we have netflix(thanks to sara and bryce) and dish network will be installed tomorrow. i already notice how conversations in the living room have changed to focusing on the television which isnt as fun but i must say its nicer to watch movies on compared to the macbook.
