...elsewhere...

so i spoke with paula and it looks as though its on for six hours of power. shes ready no doubt, but i have some work to do in the next month. i was also informed that a land owner at kennerdale has been logging and many of our trails are no longer. the land owner actually ran into some riders and was really upset about the fact that riders were trespassing on his land. hmm. i dont know what to think about this. as for the logging...it happens, if a landowner wants to have his trees cut that is his right-the fact that its happing in the middle of some of our greatest trails sucks but it is his land and his right. as for him being upset with us trespassing i have another opinion. for one to have that attitude he is automatically not a friend of mine and i never am pleased to meet one with that attitude.

i will probably visit kennerdale this weekend and discover which trails are no longer. this place has an excellent circuit of trails and they are always changing and growing....much thanks to longhair for that.. longhair is a man we ran into who rides his bike, builds trails, and stays in the woods. he is a reformed drug addict and loves life and is thankful for where he is today.

scattered rain is in the forecast here and the temperature is going to drop about ten to fifteen degrees. oh. a nice line up of free music is coming to the pittsburgh arts festival... http://www.artsfestival.net/2006Festival/performingarts.html

plan on seeing the eels and mason jennings and hopefully i do. havent been to pittsburgh in a long time and it worth the visit. goodnight all.

not nobody, not a thousand beers

rained a good deal over night and most of the friday. turned into a nice day though. a haircut in the morning after coffee and just a nice day hanging out. planned on greasing all of my pedals but only got two done and they werent even from the same pair. i put about ninety miles in this week and that will not include what i ride tomorrow. the greatest thing about letting yourself go in the ways of riding is that it doesnt take too much time to begin to improve again. now if i could just get myself to start running again.

i find it odd that i always crave running when the temperature increases. i think its because i never had air conditioning and if i was going to be miserably hot i was going to be working for it. i cant complain about the weather so far this spring. it has been great. working in long sleeves pretty much all year so far-for me that is a sign of a good year. i just got off the phone with my friend tom who will be in town shortly. nick is hopefully stopping over and we are going to share a bomber which is pretty exciting.

in the biking industry i found out that chris kelly will be getting out of the business and liquidating everything. i wrote him to get some decal sets and how i would love to buy a road bike of his before its all over. you can bid on being there, running the shop, and having the last bike built for you at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7244591085

what a great opportunity. anyone interested in dropping some cash i would recommend bidding. anyway, whoever wins the auction is one lucky person. should i bid? ha. well. happy memorial weekend all. things in pennsylvania are great and i have a particular weekend in july in new york thats on my mind. july 9th. solo or with paula. hopefully with paula because i need her to make my slow pace good. otherwise i will just get smoked by about ten of my friends. thats it for now.

and (you) climbed a tree

yesterday was my first ride out with the "community" group and it was a difficult forty. the two people who usually put me in my place were not there to ride but there were plenty of other riders that rode impressively fast. two riders i do not remember the names of and paula and john. although i new paula was becoming fast again and john has been putting in a great amount of miles, their speed and strength was excellent. thanks for the ride you two and i will look forward to riding with you both again soon.

things around here are going well. as you can see by the picture i still do not have a camera and i am sitting in the same place. this picture is after a long day of work but at least i am smiling. NO-I AM NOT DEPRESSED FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THOUGHT I MAY BE. anyway. i received my bed the other day and i really like it. i am not so happy that before i even received my bed they went on sale for a huge savings and the company said no such luck on seeing any refund of savings. met joe and bryce out for dinner tonight although i have been trying to eat at home more often.

memorial day weekend ahead and no plans so far. the weather has been great this week and i look forward to hopefully what is a dry weekend. kennerdale sounds like a great place to ride. well tomorrow is thursday i feel like a ride. that will depend on when i finish work. looking forward to it though.

also. bought some peppers the other day. MIKEY'S PEPPERS-very good. pricey, but very good. i have a jar of habs for someone i enjoy eating hot foods, drinking beer, talking and riding bikes, and listening to music. i will send them when i make the time.

"sometimes i still feel the bruise"

not only have posts been very infrequent but pictures are even worse. i stopped looking at cameras-maybe next year. by then the 14 mega pixel cameras should be around $300. besides ryan not riding at all the latest bike news is that my bike is about a month and a half to two months from being done. the frame is welded which is fantastic but ordering the mango colored chris king components waited to the last minute and chris said a month and a half for MANGO! sure i could get black or red, or green or blue, or gold, silver or pewter and that bike would be here the first of june. i say you get the blue king stuff tomorrow and i will wait for the mango -just like i am waiting to open the bottle of golden shower thats in my fridge.

in PA the news is rain. lots of it. i will take it while its here. its been a great spring as far as i am concerned. its about the toughest time for rain since work is very busy right now. i have taken the past four or five days off from working outside and accomplished a whole lot of other things. have you ever gone to lowes three or four times in a day? well if you are from hermitage you have because we do not have our home depot yet. cant wait for that to open up-then we all can travel from lowes to home depot and back again before we go home and realize we forgot lock washers and a piggy back.

anyway. i have the internet hooked up and maybe later this week todd and i will test the range on the wireless. basically, i live so close to todd we think we can send the signal to his house. anyway, i have a lot of people to thank lately. mom, dad, lori, john, my aunts, uncles and cousins, jason, sara and carol, todd, and the rest of my awesome friends. these people helped me out and i hope i can one day return the favor plus. sara, is there something we are forgetting?

i am currently listening to and enjoying mogwai's recent concert. if you have the time download it, its @npr.org. the link at the title of this blog will take you to the mountain goats song of the day which i also enjoyed. also, look for the flamming lips on the world cafe. looking forward to hearing that album. well, long post, long day, short twilight, good night.

see the vegetable man; in the vegetable van...

may is here and its a big month for birthdays. happy birthday lori, misha, sara, and dorsi. for those of you who have birthdays i have missed let me know. cinco d'miao (?) is on friday this year. la isla will be a mess im sure. was there last night for two tacos rice&beans. nick baron mentioned to me about getting jesus to get one good beer on the beer list. not a bad idea but i have been trying to get bohemia there for about a year or two now. still havent made it down to our gangs for the hop devil draft beer. thanks to the beer trade i have some conway ale, 60 and 90 minutes. now i just need a cold fridge to put it in.

so i ordered this newer magazine named dwell and to my surprise it is a good magazine. also on my list of subscriptions is natural home and garden, dirtrag, and thats about it. any other good magazines out there? my sister likes simple as do many others. i am keeping my max subscriptions at three. for a new one to enter, one must go -and basically dirtrag is not going. i am a lifetime member to dirtrag for two reasons. john and lori gave me a kickass gift and dirtrag is the best mountain biking magazine out there.

speaking of biking. new blogsite www.2wf.blogspot.com . this is a local group of riders who got it together to arrange tuesday, thursday, and weekend road rides. i have not been on a ride with them but i know many who have. it seems as though there are many skill levels riding and they are having a great time. as for myself. i havent touched the bike. my mountain bike(i just sprayed it off with the hose yesterday) has a flat front tire. my other mountain bike is missing a fork, my antique has a flat and i havent made it to mikey's to pick up the grips, and my cyclocross is solid yet not being ridden. no road bike and a debate about getting one often. right now i am saying screw the road bike. oh and that other bike im getting-havent heard about it and thought about giving desalvo a call but im just not in a hurry. i have lots of time this summer to get fast and if thats what i feel like doing thats what i will be.

ordered a new mattress the other day and visited henry hostettler about building me a bed. both should be here by the end of the month. yeah so the amish man- henry, is building me a japanese style bed. hes into it -no nails, no glue, no screws. he used to build the classic amish chairs and swings and lately he has been building 2000 peach crates. he runs a small vegetable and flower nursery off of orchard road. he's actually the son of the man who built my parents home. for those of you who know dan (nick, bryce), its dans brother. oak is what i picked to have it built out of. i must say there are other woods that this bed would look great with (cherry, walnut) but oak is just tough and PA has a lot of it.

sorry for the poor pictures lately. considering a camera, considering with the rest of the bs. well. have a great weekend everyone. happy birthday may people.
